New Contract

On July 20, Amy Corwin received word from her editor that Cerridwen Press wishes to contract a new novella she wrote at their request for a traditional Regency Christmas anthology. The anthology will be entitled A Cotillion Country Christmas. The novella is entitled "Christmas Mishaps."CHRISTMAS MISHAPS:
Estranged from her sister, Caroline Bartlett decides to seek reconciliation on Christmas. Unfortunately, she ignores the Christmas superstition that says: if a woman is the first person to set foot over the threshold on Christmas day, she brings ill-luck and death for the following year. And as misfortune follows hard upon her heels, her family greets her with bitter anger instead of reconciliation. At her wits end, Caroline reluctantly turns for aide to a younger man, Edward Masters, and she finds he has his own plans for Christmas: love.

May Book in a Week

Despite the lure of Spring, we had 5 participants for the May Book in a Week Challenge. They managed to produce 87 new pages!

Adele discovered a new way of maximizing production. Before, we'd been relying solely on massive quantities of caffeine to increase output. When Adele went out on the first day of BiaW to work in the yard, she discovered a huge snake lazing about.

That snake stayed put for two days, and Adele decided instead to seat herself in front of her computer -- with terrific results!

Even so it was Sabrina who was our big winner, coming in with 29 new pages. Yay!

Next BiaW begins the 7th of June.

Submit your news.

July Book in a Week Results

This time we had 10 participants, who managed 340 new pages in all! A lot of people stalled temporarily in that they were plotting when they should have been writing, but it's difficult (for non-pantsers) to write without that underlying structure. As it was, Qaey finished her wip.Poor Karen Buse! She didn't reach but a bit over half her goal... of 200 pages. She finished with 103 new pages for the week and thus was our winner! Must be those Wheaties she claimed she used to tempt her muse.

Our next BiaW will commence August 2, which is unfortunately during Nationals.

June Book in a Week Results

Our June group increased this time to 9 participants, who produced 196 new pages! One person hit and then surpassed their goal for the week (yay, Merle!), and others came mighty close, even with Life pestering them.

Jenna Black, who was working on 3 books, came in as our winner by writing 74 pages! Her reward (other than the pages) was a shiny demon-cat bookmark.

The next Book in a Week will begin July 5th. Why do all these holidays fall during BiaW???
